Gold Dust Radio...Playing the Tunes You Used to Love

The 'Gold Dust' journey began with the epic 'Gold Dust Party Nights', created to bring out lovers of those old “Tunes we used to Love” from back in the day.

These nights were a huge hit from the start and continued to build a fantastic reputation throughout the south of England. Bringing people together through a common love of dancing, singing and laughing just like old times! Stevie Wonder, Roy Ayres and Jocelyn Brown tracks featured regularly on these magical nights.

The Gold Dust Party generated a unique “party” atmosphere that set it aside from an ordinary club night and was aptly described as a “the ultimate soul reunion”.

Deano Jones has now revived this unique soul experience by bringing to you Gold Dust radio!!

So why do you want to do a radio station they asked?

“Well, I have a ton of music sat in the garage doing nothing and that music is a huge part of me, my upbringing, life/DJ experiences & memories. I want to share this music with people all over as I can’t play it in clubs and bars as it’s too restrictive and the average Joe or Joanne want the familiar stuff and  I don’t really enjoy doing clubs/bars and playing it obvious anymore….. I want to go deeper into the box and play the tunes we all used to love and more. Nobody else will give me an opportunity, so f*ck it, I’m doing it for myself” …

Deano Jones (founder of Gold Dust Radio).

Gold Dust Radio was really born out of the frustration of a man listening to too many radio stations and going to too many clubs/bars over the years and hearing DJ’s play it obvious and safe and not delivering.  Having promoted a club night for 6 years, the Gold Dust Parties were special, but not deep enough, so where better to go deep? On radio!

Deano Jones sought the advice of a good friend and creative soul he’d known since the age of 11 Graham Corker and in his own words, “It’s a no brainer Jonesy, you love your music so you have to do it. Doing radio has always been your dream”.

In June 2013, the initial Gold Dust Radio pilot was launched with just friends (Micky, Neil, Rocky, PC, Trendy, Barnesy & a few others) and the help and guidance of a few other respected friends (Ali , James, Raj &Tara).  After a month, this extended to the world of Facebook friends and acquaintances, and by September 2013, we were officially launched.

In October 2013, Andy Funky B Bowen joined the station, followed by Timi Backspin in November 2013 and DJ Fennygan in December 2013. We are now broadcasting live 4 nights a week (Thursday –Sunday) having added DJ Prone, Tom Gianelli, & Dan 77 to the station bringing quality creativity and versatility to the table.

The station is about getting close with our listeners and acting on their moods in real-time, tune selection, genres, artist and features in the ideal world that they want to listen to. We also aim to bring ALL communities together wherever they are in the world. It’s completely interactive and fun. We don’t take ourselves too seriously on GDR! No celebrity, and no endless chat about nonsense, just a connection with real people wanting to hear great music from the past and present and keeping it real. The DJ's are simply reliving their youth through the music.

Now you can relive those funky days and soulful nights by tuning in every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Sunday & Monday night to hear the best in retro Soul, Funk, Reggae, Jazz/Funk, Hip-Hop, RnB and Soulful/Deep House.

We are always looking for like-minded DJ’s all over to bring their passion for music and talent to the station, so if you think you have what it takes, please do email or fill in the contact page and we will be in touch.
