The beat throwdown was created when the two DJs James Budd and Sam Burt needed a night to play their unique blend of hip hop, funk, big beats and best house. Prior to that the pair had played separately for the past 20 years, honing their skills and collecting records across their home in the 3 counties. At a Beat Throwdown party we cherry pick from the best genres from the last 50 years. From classic funk joints from James Browns people to floor filling house from the labels like junior boys and traxx. Basically if it gets your booty moving you might hear it played by us.
With the Beat Throwdown radio show we are looking to bring those sounds, those records you have forgotten about back to the air waves. We want this to be special so it won’t be every week. Think of us a monthly residency, playing the tracks which were digging right now, or just dug up from the crates excited to share to the world.
