The DJ journey started in 1987 with a night called “Solid Funk, which was at the time the name of his brother’s sound system that hosted parties during the 80’s and Deano tagged along as an under aged groupie! He then progressed to playing at underground house parties and Warehouses, before being offered residency at the popular Nino’s Wine bar in Reading, and from there his popularity grown and led to other guest slots and residencies, playing Soul, Boogie, and House music.

Deano was influenced by many radio stations and in particular, listening to Radio London, Capitol, LWR and Kiss FM, following DJ’s Greg Edwards, Froggy, Chris Forbes and Tony Blackburn which help to build his collection. He developed a desire to host his own show and was eventually invited to host a show on one of Reading’s early pirate stations “Downtown Radio” which lasted for few years in the late 80’s - early 90’s until its closure, but this gave him the appetite to play on radio.

Into the 90’s, held a residency at a Reading based club called Whispers on a night called “SOUL SAUCE”. Teaming up with more well-known DJ’s like Trevor Nelson, Daddy Bug (then of Kiss FM) and Tim Westwood, playing Soul, R&B and Hip-hop night. He then took up residency at The Holy Rumes on a night called, The Ideal House Exhibition with alongside Tom Gianelli and some of the House music scenes biggest names including Paul Trouble Anderson, Bobby and Steve, Rude boy Rupert, 95 North and the legendary Marshall Jefferson. Along the way, he played in other parts of the UK, also in Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Greece and Italy.

After a 3 year sabbatical from playing, Deano came back in 2005 to host a one-off party with his brother called "Gold Dust" at Play Studios in Reading. This was a night that went back to basics with real DJ’s playing real Soul music past and present. Demand was high, so these parties have become a yearly fixture at various venues in the South East of the UK. In 2013, He created Gold dust Radio to fulfil his need to share music and open the pathway for other lesser known DJ’s, Producers and Artists to showcase their talents. His “Magic Box” show is a regular feature on GDR bringing an eclectic mix of Boogie, Soul, RnB, Soulful House, Hip-Hop and Funk.
