DJ Watson

Lawal Adewale AKA DJ Watson was born on July 27, 1984, in Ibadan, Nigeria. As a child, he had a deep passion for music and would spend hours listening to his favourite tracks on repeat. His interest in DJing started when he was given responsibility of the music at a family birthday party to shuffle between different genre of music’s using a radio cassette player in 1996.

In 2003, he was given an opportunity to play at dinner events in various departments at the college of Education that he attended. He soon gained a reputation for his eclectic taste in music and an ability to keep the crowd dancing all night long. He then started playing at larger venues and clubs across the city, honing his DJ skills and gaining more exposure.

In 2009, he got his big break when he gained admission to the University of Ibadan to further his studies as a Chemistry Educator. “I performed on the big stage and my performance was a huge success which was relevant in the entire city of Ibadan, and immediately I was signed by DAAR Communication (Ray power FM). From then on, my career took off and I started playing at major events”.

Alongside his teaching career as a Chemistry Instructor in Mushin Community Senior High School, Lagos, he managed to combine his DJ bookings and specialised in classics and wedding events. In 2021, he relocated to the UK for his master’s degree in project management, which opens more opportunities in the workplace.

He has played at several clubs and lounges in the UK such as Reading, Wolverhampton, Bristol, London, Birmingham, Leeds, Middlesbrough to mention few and his music style is a unique blend of Afrobeats, Amapiano, RnB with a touch of Funk and Disco. “I am known for my ability to read the crowd and adapt my sets to create the perfect atmosphere for each event”. My passion for music is contagious and I always manage to get the crowd moving!
